MARCUS RENTIE

We want to give a voice to all the runners that RUN the LA running scene, so we collaborated with Marcus Rentie for our latest campaign series: “A Runner’s Story”.
Marcus Rennie, is a experienced, experimental trail runner. He’s a member of the @salomonrunning Pro Squad, and also the founder of @trailfolx a nonprofit organization that supports and empowers mountain sport participation to the underprivileged youth. Marcus has put in some serious miles, but the whole reason he started running is because he was told he couldn’t.
Marcus was a skilled rollerblader, but after a bad injury and two screws bolted to his ankle, the doctors told Marcus he would never be able to run long distance. Soon after this, Marcus decided to run his 1st half marathon. After running a couple of road races, Marcus ran into a old rollerblading friend, who had gotten into Ultras, his friend was strapped up in a hydration vest, with bottles up front, and Marcus thought this was the coolest thing ever.

The Bulldog 25k in Malibu was his first trail race, and after that race Marcus was certain he found his tribe. Last year Marcus completed the Cascade Crest 100 miler, and the year before he completed the Angeles Crest 100. This year he ran Sean Orrin 50 Miler, and this is the race where everything just clicked.
“Running Ultras has taught Marcus how to break up seemingly impossible tasks into manageable chunks.” Before trail running, Marcus has lived 1000 lives: He was a Rave Dj, Rollerblader, Snowboarder, Rock Climber, Electrical Engineer, LEGO Robotics instructor, Import Car Builder, fruit and veggie gardener and the list goes on and on…
Marcus is gearing up for the Mammoth Trail Fest 50K and hopefully a Western States Qualifier before the end of the year. His ultimate goal is a sub 24 hour finish at States 100. Follow him on his journey, and find out more about @trailfolx and how he’s giving back in big ways.
